Help Others

This plaque sits on my desk and is both my personal mantra and the mission statement of our sales operation.

My late father taught me about helping others as he was a humble servant throughout his life. I consider my father to be the finest human being to ever walk on the face of the earth. My respect and admiration for his integrity and high ethics is what has helped me in my life. He helped many people as a permanent deacon in the Catholic Church including baptizing over 500 babies.

The concept of helping others relates to sales directly according to Zig Ziglar and The One Minute Salesperson.

In 1968, he became a vice president and training director for the Automotive Performance company, moving to Dallas, Texas. Ziglar later worked as a salesman in a succession of companies. By 2010, Ziglar still traveled around taking part in motivational seminars, despite a fall down a flight of stairs in 2007 that left him with short-term memory problems.

And in the One Minute Salesperson, Dr Spencer Johnson maintains that you can get what you want by helping other people get what they want.

Simple, yet powerful and effective.

So next time you are in a sales situation, make sure that you are selling on purpose and that the product or service you are offering will be beneficial to the customer.
