Tuesday Morning Thoughts

“Imagine” is a song written and performed by English musician John Lennon. The best-selling single of his solo career, its lyrics encourage the listener to imagine a world at peace without the barriers of borders or the divisions of religion and nationality, and to consider the possibility that the whole of humanity would live unattached to material possessions. It seems very appropriate in 2017.

There is something special about being the underdog. Our radio stations are not part of one of the big conglomerates in the city with fancy studios and prestigious offices, however, the fact remains that we have to work a little harder to achieve our objectives, But when you are underestimated, you are typically not being paid attention to and as such, you can fly under the radar while accomplishing tremendous feats.

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela 18 July 1918 – 5 December 2013) was a South African anti apartheid revolutionary, politician, and philanthropist, who served as President of South Africa, from 1994 to 1999. He was the country’s first black head of state and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election. His government focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid by tackling institutionalised racism and fostering racial reconciliation. Ideologically an African nationalist and socialist, he served as President of the African National Congress party from 1991 to 1997.

Enough said.

Life is about exploration and adventure. For some people, that means exploring the world and for others it means taking risks to experience exhilaration such as bungee jumping, parachuting, zip lining, and so on. But trying new things can be as simple as exploring a new genre of music or a new type of cuisine. We tend to do what is comfortable and are sometimes reticent about stepping outside our comfort zone. I haven’t flown sing 1986 and finally decided to take a weekend course with a pilot and psychologists in order to confront my fear.Am I nervous? Yes. But I have to try. Wish me luck.
