Sometimes the hardest part of any journey is the start. But as my friend who is a psychologist once said, just start down a path and don’t look back. Because once you make a decision to move forward, momentum kicks in and you start to roll. Just like a snowball rolling down a hill. There is always room for preparation but remember – better to do something imperfectly than nothing perfectly.
Isn’t this always the case. We are heading in one direction and something comes at us from left field. I was in the radio business for 17 years and one of the on air personalities was also a lawyer for the Montreal Alouettes. Before I knew it, my new career was in professional sports as the VP Sales and Marketing. But you have to be open to the opportunities that present themselves.
You’ve heard the old expression, do what you love and the money will follow. This is absolutely true. But it’s not about the money; its about enjoying the journey. And for some, it’s never about the money; it’s about the challenges and opportunities. And for some, it’s about helping others. If I can teach someone how to sell and be successful, the satisfaction is huge.
